Recently, the New England Patriots were presented with beautiful gemstone studded rings. These AFC Championship rings were handed to them during a team meeting that was headed by the owner Robert Kraft. The Patriots lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI, but the owner felt that it was still one of the franchise’s most memorable seasons. He is hopeful that they will get the real one soon.
This enormous ring is made of 14-karat, white gold. The Patriots logo is on top of the ring emblazoned with seven marquise diamonds. Each of these gems represents one of the seven AFC titles that this franchise has won. The logo is surrounded by 32 round diamonds – each for one of the NFL’s teams. There is another set of 73 diamonds. This represents the 73 players who appeared in at least one game last season.
The left side of the ring features a blue sapphire stone with the initials “MHK” for Kraft’s late wife Myra. She expired last July due to cancer.
This season was really close to Kraft’s heart as it was dedicated to his late wife, Myra. In an interview, he said that he has told the team to get the real one next season. He wanted to win it this time, but that didn’t happen. However they are still happy, as they have managed to win the AFC Championship Game at home in front of 70,000 fans. Yes they have certainly failed to win the Championship. But it has still been a great accomplishment for the team according to Kraft. He added that it is something he will never forget.
