Earlier in September, Venice saw the descent of stars by the scores on the Red Carpet. The Venice Film Festival is one of the most anticipated annual film festivals along with The Cannes Film Festival. Both are in the news as much for showcasing the best of world cinema as for giving us a glimpse of best of high fashion and jewelry.
Here’s a sneak peek at five style statements – quirky, traditional, outlandish – that rocked The Venice Film festival, this year.
Tilda Swinton – The Rebel
The Chronicles of Narnia star is known for her androgynous fashion sense. But for the 72nd Venice Film Festival, she chose to don a more feminine look albeit in a not so traditional way. Tilda Swinton was spotted in an lemon yellow draped off-the-shoulder ensemble with a Mermaid hemline that gave her tall frame an elegant touch. The Delfina Delettrez ring on her left ring finger, and a shock of cropped blonde mane completed the minimalistic look for this unconventional woman at the Venice Red Carpet.
Kristen Stewart- No ‘Twilight’ Fashion
Not many girls would toy with the idea of wearing sneakers with pretty dresses. Stewart isn’t one of the them. She has made headlines for wearing sneakers ‘inappropriately’ many a time. Yes, this girl surely prefers comfort over style! Venice, however, saw a mellower Kristen Stewart sporting a Haute Couture tea-length dress, and matching silver jewelry from Chanel along with Christian Louboutin heels, for a photocall of her film Equal.
Juliette Binoche – Timeless Beauty
The French Beauty has made bold choices on screen. Her Red Carpet appearance at Venice was no less dramatic. Dressed in a body-hugging heavily sequined turquoise gown with a plunging neckline, Binoche looked resplendent with the dark kohl around her eyes and Chopard Diamond earrings lighting up her ageless face.
Elisa Sednaoui – Epitome of Elegance
The supermodel looked ravishing in a strapless grey translucent gown with a wide black sash accentuating her middle, during the opening ceremony. She complemented classy look with a white gold and diamond Carlotta necklace and a Opera ring by Buccellati.
Diane Kruger – The Face of Helen
Not for nothing was Diane Kruger cast as Helen in the Brad Pitt-starrer Troy. At the opening ceremony, she chose a Prada dress with a caped back embroidered with circles made of glass and crystal. Not a safe player on the fashion front, Kruger teamed up this rather outlandish gown with a beautiful pair of Earrings by Kwiat and a white gold and diamond 101 watch by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Throughout the festival, the German beauty maintained a consistently eclectic wardrobe of impeccable dresses and fine jewelry.
